taking our culture forward

A unique recording 1974 recording of Mona Douglas RBV, Bernard Caine RBV and Charles Guard combining story-telling, Celtic harp and Manx Gaelic song.

Mona Douglas, one of the most important figures in Manx cultural history, explains the story of the song's collection on the Dalby shore, leading into its beautiful performance by Bernard Caine RBV and Charles Guard. This recording was made at the home of Mona Douglas in 1974 and it has only just been publicly released.
