Deemster Corrin talks about his youth growing up in a boarding house on Demesne Road in Douglas in the thirties, of the effect of WW2 on Douglas, internment camps, Murrays Road School, summers spent working at Kerrowgarrow Farm, life as a boarder at King William's College, London Manx Society, being articled at Dickinson Cruickshank and completing five years unpaid 'apprenticeship' before he earned his first wage. Deemster Corrin also talks about his family from Foxdale, his grandmother, Mary Cannell from Kirk Michael whose father was 'Cannell the Hatter', how his grandfather lost his arm in the mines then got the job as village postman, his aunt that taught at Ballmodha School and how most of his family and many of their neighbours emigrated after the mines closed leaving Foxdale a 'ghost town'.
