Clare Kilgallon RBV joins the board of Culture Vannin

Culture Vannin is delighted to announce that Clare Kilgallon RBV has been appointed to its board.

The appointment process was led by the Cabinet Office and confirmed by Tynwald at the end of April.

Clare is well known in Manx cultural circles. A talented musician, singer and conductor, she was awarded the Reih Bleeaney Vanannan (Manannan’s Choice of the Year) cultural award in 2014. Clare was introduced to Manx culture at a young age when she became a member of Aeglagh Vannin (Youth of Mann), learning songs, dances and stories from Mona Douglas. She has followed in the footsteps of her mentor, passing on the tradition to her own children and to students of the Manx youth music movement, Bree.

A talented performer, Clare has featured at Manx cultural events and on various recordings and has represented the Isle of Man internationally. She leads the Manx Gaelic unaccompanied choir Cliogaree Twoaie, with whom she has made two CDs. Clare is also a long-term member of Manx dance groups Bock Yuan Fannee and the Manx Folk Dance Society. Clare's enthusiasm for traditional Manx culture is invaluable and Culture Vannin is delighted to welcome her to the board.

Chairman, Hon Phil Gawne MHK commented, "Clare’s life-long passion for and knowledge of Manx culture make her an excellent choice to shape Culture Vannin’s future. She joins a dedicated group of people who help to take Manx culture forward through Culture Vannin’s development work and grant giving.”
