Captains of the Parishes website
Thu, 04 Jan 2007
A new website for the Island's Parish Captains has been launched by the Manx Heritage Foundation. The site tells the story of this unique and historic role from its beginnings in the 17th century to the present day. The current Captains are pictured on the website and can be accessed by an interactive map. Each parish has a page which lists all the Captains that have served there since 1627. The site has been funded by the Manx Heritage Foundation and designed by Sean Kelly of 3 Legs Ltd. It replaces a book originally published by the Foundation and researched and written by Constance Radcliffe. Apart from the historical background, you can use the site to contact the Captains and to keep in touch with their news. The website can be reached at www.culturevannin.im/parishcaptainsComplete T.
