taking our culture forward

The belief on the Isle of Man was that St. Bridget ("Breeshey" in Manx Gaelic) could be found seeking for a place to sleep on the 31st of January, the day before her Feast Day. So you must be prepared for her to stay - with food and a bed ready.

If you do everything right, you might be lucky enough to have her stay, after which things would certainly go right for you in the year to come.
